Working from home

Working from home is pretty challenging and it´s not because you´re distracted by the tv – I assume we´re all professionals here who don´t have Modern Family playing in the background while we work. It´s mostly because it´s a one man´s game. Working from home is like playing golf, you´re playing against yourself and your shortcomings, without a team there to complement or cover for you.

Office Work – more productive?

The basics of working from anywhere

All you need to work from anywhere

I wouldn´t say it´s easier to be in an office either. I get more distracted at the office where people are talking, interrupting me, inviting me to meetings I shouldn´t attend. I´m lucky enough to get a bit of both worlds and to me, none of them is a picnic. It´s still work! But if you do get a choice, it all comes down to knowing where you’re most productive and ultimately, happy. Even if you want to be in your PJs all day, you still have deadlines and KPIs and people who depend on you. And they often assume you´re doing nothing or planning your next vacation so you need to work more than your colleagues.

Working from home / anywhere – trend or reality?

It also has to do with this trend of working from anywhere. People posing with their laptops on a remote beach. I dunno about you but whenever I get the chance to be on a remote beach, I´d rather have a Moscow Mule in my hand rather than a mouse. But yeah, I get it. It´s cool to have the freedom, to manage your own time and wake up whenever and wherever you want. It´s what made me decide to work from home/anywhere. And at first I´d travel and work from more places but I learned that as cool as that sounds, I kinda like waking up in my house in Barcelona, surrounded by my things and planning out my day on my nice flamingo planner. For me, the best is actually getting to go back home to Bucharest anytime I want and work from there weeks on end if I want. And that is priceless to me.

Thought-provoking post! I’m not currently working from home but am very intrigued by the idea of it. However you bring up a lot to think about. If I do travel, as I’d like to, I’m sure I’d have a hard time focusing on work. The main incentive for me is also being able to go and visit family for extended periods of time! I love that you’re not stuck in one place if you don’t want to be.

I love working from home. Although it does have its challenges. Mainly being that it’s hard to concentrate and get much done with kids running around.

I agree with you completely! It’s good to be able to choose where you work from, but for me, being able to work from my home is perfect! I love being surrounded by my things and knowing where everything is that I might need. I live right on the beach, so if I go to the beach, my laptop is the last thing I would pack!
